Erysimum officinale

Detailed description

Erysimum Sisymbrium officinale or Erysimum officinale is an annual herbaceous plant in the Brassicaceae family. Native to Europe and North Africa, it is now well established throughout the world, particularly around cultivated habitats and roadsides.

Erysimum’s biological effects can be attributed to its volatile compounds, and in particular to the degradation products of glucosinolates, an important class of secondary metabolites.

This plant has been traditionally used for hundreds of years to soothe the upper airways.
