Annabelle Caillet’s presentation at the synadiet 2024 training course
On Thursday November 14, 2024, Annabelle Caillet, Head of Product Quality and R&D at Pharmanager Ingredients, led a training session entitled “Quality of dietary supplements in 2024”, organized by Synadiet. The event was held at the Cercle National des Armées in Paris, and brought together experts from the sector to discuss current issues in the quality control of food supplements.
Training focused on safety and regulatory compliance
Annabelle Caillet spoke on a key issue for the industry: the quality of raw materials and the responsibility of those involved in the manufacture of food supplements. She provided concrete tools to help participants better reference their ingredients, whether plant preparations, substances, vitamins, minerals, additives or flavourings.
Focusing on the regulatory aspects, Annabelle presented the various texts used to define the specifications to be met for your ingredients. She also shared tips on how to collect the necessary information and validate the compliance of ingredients to better identify hazards and control the risks associated with each raw material.
A case study to illustrate best practices
To make her talk more interactive, Annabelle Caillet guided participants through a practical case study: the referencing of a green tea extract. Through this case study, Annabelle Caillet evokes all the steps involved in guaranteeing the quality and safety of our extract.
Practical tips for selecting raw materials
Annabelle also provided essential advice on how to ensure optimal quality control of raw materials:
- Know the regulatory status of each ingredient to precisely define its specifications.
- Gather as much information as possible on raw materials in order to validate their conformity, identify hazards and control risks.
A comprehensive training program
The course enabled participants to address a number of key issues for the food supplements industry, including quality control from ingredients to finished product, managing recalls and preparing for inspections by authorities such as the DDPP (Direction Départementale de la Protection des Populations).
