Ginkgo biloba, the oldest living tree species, is native to China. Its leaves are used for their antioxidant properties, to improve memory and concentration, and to promote blood circulation. Its beneficial effects are attributed to its flavonoids and terpenoids, well documented in clinical and preclinical studies. Today, it is widely present in nutraceutical and pharmaceutical formulations to support cognitive and cardiovascular health. Read the detailed description

Detailed description
Ginkgo(Ginkgo biloba) is a medicinal plant in the Ginkgoaceae family, native to China, Japan and Korea. Ginkgo species date back to the Permian period, some 286 to 248 million years ago, making it the oldest living tree in the world. It is now cultivated worldwide for its nuts and leaves, which have medicinal properties.
In China, Ginkgo is traditionally used for the respiratory tract and cardiovascular system. Today, Gingko is used in both nutraceutical and pharmaceutical formulations for its antioxidant properties, to improve cognitive function (particularly memory and concentration) and blood circulation. Its health benefits are mainly attributed to its rich profile of bioactives, especially flavonoids, polyphenols, organic acids and terpenoids represented by ginkgolides and bilobalides, whose action on the cerebral and peripheral circulatory systems has been documented in numerous preclinical and clinical studies. Most of the extracts available on the market are titrated in flavone glycosides (quercetin, isorhamnetin and kaempferol), which are known to play an antioxidant and neuroprotective role.
